Linda Martin presenting the Hospitality Assured award to Frimley Park's Assistant Hotel Services Manager Kevan Wallace
Frimley Park Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Frimley, Surrey, has become the first NHS Trust in the South of England to achieve Hospitality Assured.
The Trust which runs a 700-bed hospital and employs 3,300 staff gained the award for its Catering Services, which were also honoured last summer with Surrey Heath Borough Council’s top food hygiene award.
The Hospitality Assured assessment focused on the Trust’s Catering Services including patient meals and beverages, café, sandwich shop and staff restaurant. The Trust was advised through the process by Linda Martin, the HCIMA’s Director of Programmes responsible for Hospitality Assured. She presented the Hospitality Assured certificate and award to Frimley Park’s Assistant Hotel Services Manager Kevan Wallace and his team at a ceremony at the hospital restaurant on Tuesday, 16 January.
At the presentation, Linda Martin said: “You have done amazingly well especially for a first time score. What came through was what a caring group of people you were, and you were really good at engaging with what your customers wanted as well.
The assessors were particularly impressed by the support and leadership given by the management team and the noticeable enthusiasm displayed by everyone in Catering Services they talked to demonstrating a pride in the food and service provided.
Other healthcare organisations, that have achieved Hospitality Assured, include: the Anchor Trust, Barchester Healthcare (Senior Living); Bradford Community NHS Trust; Donisthorpe Hall, Leeds; the Dormy House Care Home, Sunningdale; Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Trust and in London: Cromwell Hospital, the Princess Grace Hospital, the Harley Street Clinic and Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
